Hi friends!
I have been so busy lately! I just finished a show in the city which was so much fun to do. It's a pretty big commitment for me because I have to drive so far to get there, and traveling back usually puts me at home pretty late. It's not uncommon for me to struggle to stay awake for the last ten minutes home! The company I work with usually does a show every July, and this time I ended up driving for each show, which was awesome and I learned a lot about the city, and about metered parking. I also got lost once after a rehearsal. It took about twenty minutes to get back to the theater to then turn around and get to my exit for the highway. Nice. But I love it and would do it all again in a heartbeat. I think that's what really makes us as musicians - this love for performing - it doesn't matter what the music is, we just have to do it. Over and over and over again.
I have been with this particular company for a few years now; I joined them when they were doing their first show, and they've come a long way. We did a run of 12 shows - two theaters contacted us about taking the show to their theaters and someone wants to pay us to make a studio recording of the show! That's pretty good, I'd say!
But now I'm back in town, and working all week like I normally do. It's nice too, to be back to normal and have regular hours --and regular times to see my handsome fiance! I have so much to do now too; wedding invitations to assemble and send, decorations to decide upon, gifts to purchase, my dress to get altered and a host of other things still left to do.
Plus, school is starting.
...did I think it wouldn't?
or perhaps I convinced myself that not thinking about it would delay it's arrival on my calendar.
Silly me.
So I have materials to read and music to decide on to prepare myself for the fall semester. I'm looking forward to that as well. The show in the city bolstered my confidence in myself, and to a greater degree, challenged me to learn more as a musician and teacher.

Red Velvet Yummyness
For as long as I can remember, it has been a large desire of mine to have red velvet cake at my wedding. It is my absolutely favorite cake of all time because, well, it's RED. And on the most wonderful day of the year, I want to have a bit of my favorite cake. Plus, it is usually frosted with a light cream cheese frosting, and everyone who knows me knows that cream cheese is one of my great loves in life. So now that it is time to choose my wedding cake, red velvet is a natural choice. This choice has been debated a few times with my mother, whose valid concerns included the fact that a large number of people don't necessarily like ingesting that much food coloring. Understandably so, it reduced my initial design of having the entire cake be red velvet, to just one tier being red velvet, to simply having my top layer-one year anniversary layer be red velvet, and after sampling many bakers wares, have now concluded that we will not be having red velvet cake at all.
Read: No one in this area of the country knows how to make a proper red velvet cake.
I am vexed people. Vexed.
A proper red velvet cake always contains some buttermilk. It is not simply chocolate cake with red food coloring, and don't let anyone fool you into thinking that it is, because its not. Ok? Ok.
Harumph.

There are three things in life that can make even the worst problems seem just that tiniest bit better. The first is a cup of tea--loose-leaf Assam with a hint of Lapsang and poured before it gets too dark and then with a dash of milk and the smallest hint of sugar. Calming, soothing and almost without peer. The second, naturally, is a hot soaking bath. The third is Puccini. In the bath with a hot cup of tea and Puccini. Heaven.

wedding shoes!
I bought my shoes for my wedding dress today!! This past week I've been a little nervous that the store would be out of my size or color, so this morning I got online quick as a flash and ordered them...in the wrong size, no less. But never fear, I called customer service and they changed the order for me. Keep your fingers crossed that it worked!
Much love,

Back again.
Hi everyone! Ok, so I've officially started my blog. It was something I had wanted to do for a while, but before I wanted it to be something I could attach to a website that I thought I wanted to create as a professional flutist. So therefore, I had to be doing things professionally, and while I am doing those things, they are just happening here in town. (Maybe I'll post some of those fun happenings.) No fun travel pictures of concerts or flute camps. Hopefully that will come, but in the meantime, and back to the idea of blogging, I decided to start it up again mostly because of how much I enjoy the blogs that other people close to me post. So here's my little spot on the blogosphere - I hope you enjoy it!
